Born in Depere, WI, son of Freeman A. and Winifred (Weter) Havighurst. Married Esythe D. McNelly, 1930-06-21. He had five children, James Parsons, Walter M., Helen (Mrs. Marvin S. Berk), Ruth (Mrs. Samuel H. Neff), and Dorothy (Mrs. Thomas Kucera). He served in the U.S. Army, 1918.
